What We Board Up, and Why People Call

We board openings after break-ins, accidental damage and storms, and secure empty properties for landlords and agents. As an example, a family in Church Langley might find the back door forced and the frame split: we'd secure the frame first, then board the opening so the house can be locked up for the night. Boarding is the make-safe that buys you time, so your glazier or joiner can do the permanent repair properly once things have settled.

Boarded Properly,
Fitted With Care

Most openings get exterior-grade plywood, typically 18mm, with OSB for smaller gaps. We use security fixings that are harder to remove from outside, and where the frame allows we fix non-destructively, which helps your joiner later. If a frame's too far gone to take a fixing, we'll explain the options before we start. Afterwards you get an itemised invoice, time-stamped before and after photos and a written statement of what we did, ready to send to your insurer. Your insurer decides what's covered. We're boarders, not loss adjusters, but we'll make sure the paperwork's clear.

How It Works

1

Ring Us

Tell us what's broken and your postcode. We'll give you a free, clear quote before any work starts and work out when we can be with you. Price depends on the number and size of openings, height and access, board thickness, fixings, whether a door or frame needs securing first and any glass to clear.

2

We Turn Up

We come out across Harlow, Old Harlow and Newhall, Church Langley and Great Parndon. If your street's a residential permit area, mention it on the call so we can plan where the van goes.

3

Property Secured

Broken glass made safe, openings boarded and fixed, photos taken. You can lock up and get some sleep, with the paperwork ready for your insurer.

Shopfront and Commercial
Boarding Up

Shops, offices, restaurants and warehouses all get the same careful job. A broken frontage needs closing so stock is protected and you can trade again as soon as the glazier's been. On older shopfronts, such as the original ones along Old Harlow High Street, we fix into the frame where it allows rather than damaging period timber. Call and we'll talk through the opening, the access and the quote.

Testimonials

"Someone put a brick through our front room window just after midnight. I expected an answering machine but a real person picked up, talked me through the quote and turned up with the board already on the van. He swept the glass off the sill, took photos before and after, and the insurer had everything they asked for."

Great Parndon (CM19) • Window Boarding
"We've got an old timber shopfront and I was worried about screws going everywhere. He showed me where he'd fix it so the frame wouldn't get damaged, and he was right. The glazier said it was the tidiest boarding he'd taken down in a while."
