Boarding Up Areas in Harlow

Boarding Up Harlow works across Harlow and the surrounding neighbourhoods, boarding windows, doors, shopfronts and roof openings for homes, businesses and empty properties. This page shows the boarding up areas around Harlow we cover, which places have their own local page, and how to check your exact address. A person answers the phone 24 hours a day, so you can ring at any hour to check coverage.

How our coverage works

Coverage depends on your exact address, not a neighbourhood name or postcode district. Two streets with the same postcode start can be quite different for access, so we confirm every job on the call.

When you ring, we’ll ask for:

  • Your postcode and street, so we can confirm coverage and work out when we can attend
  • What needs securing: a broken window, a forced door, a shopfront, a skylight or the openings of an empty property
  • Rough sizes and how many openings, and whether any are on an upper floor or roof
  • Safe photographs, if you can take them without going near broken glass or unsafe structures

You’ll get a free, clear quote on the call before any work starts. The arrival time is also worked out on the call from your postcode, which is why we don’t put one on this page.

Areas with a local page

These neighbourhoods have their own page with more detail about property types and boarding work there:

If your neighbourhood isn’t listed, that doesn’t mean we can’t help. Call with your postcode to check coverage.

Other places we serve

We also serve the following, subject to confirming your address on the call:

  • Bush Fair
  • Staple Tye
  • Potter Street
  • Roydon

Bush Fair, like Old Harlow High Street and The Stow, is one of the shopping areas named in Harlow Council’s Shopfront Design Guide. If a shopfront there has been damaged, boarding makes it secure while you arrange the permanent repair with your glazier or shopfitter. See shopfront boarding for how we approach glazed frontages and fixings.

Window boarding in CM postcodes

Window boarding can cover one cracked pane in a back bedroom or several ground-floor windows after a break-in. We typically use exterior-grade plywood, usually 18mm, with OSB for smaller openings. Where the frame allows, we fix in a way that limits further damage, so the glazier has less to put right afterwards. If a frame is badly damaged, we’ll explain the options before starting.

More on materials and fixings is on our window boarding page.

We cover the CM17 and CM19 neighbourhoods listed above and the places named on this page. We don’t claim every address in every CM postcode. Give us your full postcode and we’ll tell you straight away.

Things that help us plan the visit

A few practical details make a difference to the quote and the visit:

  • Height and access. Upper-floor windows, roofs and skylights need ladders and more preparation, so tell us early. Please don’t climb up to measure anything yourself.
  • Damaged doors and frames. If a door has been forced, it may need securing before boarding can go on.
  • Glass and debris. Let us know if broken glass needs making safe.
  • Parking. Parts of Harlow are residential permit areas managed by the North Essex Parking Partnership. If your street is one of them, mention it so we can talk about where the van can stop.

The van carries boarding stock and fixings. We discuss the openings and access with you on the call.

What you receive

Wherever you are in our coverage, the work is the same: the openings we’ve agreed are made safe and secure, and you receive an itemised invoice, time-stamped before and after photographs and a written statement of the work done. These are useful for your insurer, who decides what’s covered. Boarding is the make-safe stage, giving you a secure property while permanent glazing or door repairs are arranged.

We’re an independent local boarding-up service with over 10 years’ experience. We’re fully insured (certificate on request) and DBS-checked.

Check your address

The quickest way to find out if we cover your property is to ring with your postcode. Tell us what’s damaged, roughly how big the openings are and whether anything is above ground floor. Send safe photographs if you have them, and we’ll confirm coverage, talk through access and give you a free quote before any work begins.
